I believe she is right

This morning while getting the kids ready for school. I had the news on as I always do to hear the weather report for the day. During the newscast, there was a woman named Jill Reed on. She had stated that her father had predicted the winner of the presidental election over a year ago and he was right. She then said she was asked by someone if they thought that John McCain's choice of Sarah Palin had lost him the election. She replied "John McCain could have had Jesus Christ as his running mate and he would have lost the election." This statement threw me back. At first I was offended, but that quickly passed as I realized she was right.

Take denomonation out of it, we as Christians have lost faith in God. If Jesus Christ had been John McCains running mate, we would have rationalized that Jesus did not understand our needs in the econimic crisis, that he was out of touch with what we needed to become a stong nation once again and that we had to take control and Jesus would understand and not blame us for excersizing our will for the sake of our needs.

If you look at this deeper, that is what Judas did. Judas did not betray Jesus because he hated him, because he wanted the money, no Judas thought that Jesus was handling things all wrong, so he felt he needed to intervine thus forcing Jesus to call his army's to defeat the Pharasis. Well, it did not quite work out that way, and there were consequenses to Judas's actions. Judas compounded things for himself, by not repenting and asking for forgiveness, but by once again taking matters into his own hands and taking his life.

The parallels are astounding. We are once again being asked. Do you trust me.

President-elect Obama has once again stated he will not wait to overturn GW Bush's Executive orders. This will mean tax payers will pay for Embyonic stem cell reasearch, we will also have to bear the costs of the restrictions of late term abortions being lifted, as well as the goverment allowing our young daughters to cross state lines to procure an abortion and no parent will need be notified. The nurse at the school has to call me to give my child a asprin, but abortion, no problem. Yes, I understand emancipation, but once she is no longer pregnant, she is no longer emancipated. A nice loophole for Planned Parenthood.

As Christians, do you really believe that God does not know you will suffer because you stand up for him. Do you really think he does not know you will lose friends and family members because your speaking the truth will convict them, thus making them feel judged and not wanting to be in your presence any further.

Jesus said he did not come to unite, he came to divide. Brother against Brother, Mother against Daughter and so on.

I have also heard from so many people say, what about free will, we have to allow others to have free will. God gave us free will to choose good, not evil.

In the case of abortion, in my opinion, free will ends before conception, not after.

We are lucky though, unlike the angels, we can have a change of heart all the way up to the moment of our death (not after, so those of you that think you can have a talk with God over a beer, not gonna happen.)

God did not give his only son to confirm us in our sins.

The battle lines have been drawn, where do you stand?

This is just as much for me

55 % of Catholics voted for Barack Obama. This speaks volumes.

As for myself, many of you may know that I was not even a cafeteria catholic for many years. When I finally went back to the sacrament of confession, it had been 25 years since my last confession. I will talk more about that experience later.

I was very lucky, God had not given up on me, I am sure he had given me plenty of opportunity to turn back to him, but I kept saying no. Being the perfect gentleman he is, he allowed me to sink further into my sin. But he also placed me in place where years after I moved in I would come to church for the first time in years and be left stunned.

I will write about my conversion one day, but that will come later.

It is a shame that some catholics are subjected to priests like Fr. Andrew Greeley, (I just read his article in the suntimes) Many catholics read that and say "See I can vote for Obama" No, no no, you cannot. Although Father Greeley has mislead people, we have allowed ourselves to become mislead. I realized as my conversion was taking place, I had no clue what the Church was teaching, an more importantly WHY.

As for those who just listen to what their Cardinal, Bishops or Priests are telling them, you are being lukewarm and this is what gave Jesus the most pain. We need to know our faith and understand not only the what but the why.

Christ did not give the keys to all the Apostles, he gave them to Peter and they were passed down in succession.

I know most of us were in the same boat, we were NOT taught the faith. I was taught by GFXP (just initials) he taught at catholic school and was not concerned with teaching the faith, but with getting high. It was for lack of a better word, a Joke.

It is my hope that with the help of the Holy Spirit, I will be able to help anyone who has a desire to really learn their faith, as well as an opportunity for me to learn even more and continue my conversion.

I hope from time to time to have some priests and deacons chime in.

God Bless
